Manifesto
Welcome! We at Tabellas are committed to ethical eating. Locally grown organic vegetables, dairy and cheeses, and humanely raised/slaughtered meats and eggs constitute 80% of what we offer. We believe that supporting our regional/local economy of small family farms is the sustainable and healthy solution. All the seafood we offer strives to be sustainably raised, or fished ecologically.
It takes a community to feed a community. Eat locally known foods!
We list our food sources on the menu, and you can find the farm’s websites on ours. The world is full of misconceptions and misleading information about where our food comes from. This misinformation serves those who have the most to gain: factory farms and “conventional” corporate foods. Thus, hurting those who have everything to loose; us, animals, and fish, and ultimately our shared planet.
“Animal agriculture [factory farms] makes a 40% greater contribution to global warming than all transportation in the world combined; it is the number one cause of climate change.”*
We make a sincere effort to ask only what we need to cover costs. Our kitchen is small and filled only with essential staff. We serve your meal family style; the food comes out when it is freshly cooked/prepared and at the peak of its quality. We do not allow your food to sit under a heat lamp and all meats are cooked to order. Since plates may arrive at staggered times, we recommend that you share what you sample from our menu.
We hope you enjoy eating here as much as we do, and encourage you to ask questions!
